Sunday - Thursday in Tasmania
Sunday - So didn't go by the gorge again. We stayed at a motel near the place, near the place we stayed at before! There was a park opposite - with monkeys. They weren't there when I went bye. Managed to buy one chrissy present before the stores shut.
I've lost a day or two somewhere. Will edit when I realised where I have fked up... I think Monday is missing
Had a huge dinner at the Jail House Grill Steak House. Mum had a small steak, my bro had a medium steak, and I had the largest (although not a large). I'm always attracted to the most unusual food on the menu whenever I am dining abroad (unless I've had a succession of unsuccessful forays previously...) and keeping with such philosophy ordered the attractively named Caprpet Bag. A 300gm steak filled with scallops and prawns. It was pretty heavy going as I helped myself to several plates of the salad bar buffet and the varieties of pasta within. Afterwards I found the nearest club to watch the Sydney FC v Deportivo Saprissa match in the World Club Championship. Sydney played really well in the first half but couldn't score. Then they played like dogs in the second half, especially Dwight Yorke in the center of a 3 man midfield. Midfielders need to move on occassion, and even if you have an awesome playmaker, you still need someone to do the hard yards. This meant Sydney had a 2 man midfield in defence as Yorke loped about looking lost and as if he wished his coach would play him elsewhere. Sydney put ALL it's strikers on the field at once (5) even with a man down, and should have been dead and buried except for some brilliant 2 and 3 v 1 stops by keeper Clint Bolton. Watched the game in a pub in a stairwell of a room - the main area appeared to be dominated by pokies...
Monday - Went by the Cable HangGliding joint which mercifully was finally open. It cost a tenner to jump on. It was a tourist trap, although fun for the few seconds of the short journey. Effectively a very large, very expensive flying fox with less danger and the inherent thrill from that aspect.
Tuesday - Had a quick look at some old candy factory then drove to Hobart. Too late to catch the Cadbury Factory Tour so found a crappy trailer park to crash at. Lunched at a local mall, then headed in to Hobart to see if there was a movie showing. There wasn't so I played some Dance Machine. I did not get any better, but I have now played pretty much all the level 5 songs at least once, and can beat 90% of them. Level 6 I am struggling to compete. The trailer/park turned out to be INFESTED with mosquitos. Mum had the great idea of leaving the bathroom light on and the door open to lure them into there. That had the effect of luring mosquito's IN through the fan in the bathroom, and then into the sleeping room where me and my brother were promptly mauled. I decided to sleep with my head under the covers to little effect in the morning, but at least I was spared the incessent whining near my ears keeping me awake. Andrew was significantly more frustrated and after turning on the lights twice to do combat with his innumerable foe, withdrew to the car. However, ineptitude at door closing and window shutting allowed the feast to continue.
Wednesday - Went to the Cadbury Factory in the morning. The tour was pretty short, and we got a small handful of chocolate. Then we bought significantly more chocolate in the store where bags upon bags of reject and discounted stock stood waiting for fat asses. And there was at least one really fat, ass buying more chocolate than can be healthy. Afterwards went into Hobart CBD to shop with my remaining time. Managed to get all the main pressie recipients off of my list. I think wandering about looking for presents just doesn't work - I call this the Scattergun Approach. I inevitably look at stuff that I want. I prefer to think of a suitable gift or gift genre and then focus my searching there. Which is important in terms of energy efficiency as I prefer to use the Exhaustive Method wherebye I peruse every item within the given category/store before coming to a decision - twice. After a rest at the motel, where I drew a coo self portrait, we had curry. It was hot. Then played Dance Machine. Playing Dance machine with someone else definetly prolongs my own experience, as the other person can keep me alive. But it's not cheaper if you are also paying for the other person. That was the only means by which I convinced my brother to lumber onto the pads and feel a fool on Beginner (not cause it was too easy!). However he got better quick enough that he kept me alive through the entire song of Paranoia 270bpm! (still on beginner of course). I won't be even attempting Paranoia for a long time, if ever. It's simply so far beyond my ability to enjoy at the moment.
Thursday - got up, realised I LOST MY SENNHEISSER HEADPHONES then headed for the airport. Flew to Melbourne, loitered in the Blue Room for a few hours then flew to Canberra. Loitered a while until Andrew's friend Dean showed up to ferry us home. Then rushed to Summer Comp and SCORED TWICE - once in each period in a large and comfortable win.
