MOVIE REVIEW: Pirates of the Carribean 2 = Star Wars 2: The Empire Strikes Back

Pirates was way cool! Fantastic sequel, completely unlike Legend of Zorro (omg), but very similar to Empire Strikes Back!

The story was good, although a little convoluted and has been written to incorporate elements of the third film. The performances were as good as the first with the notable introduction of Bill Nighy as Davey Jones - who looks SPEC-TAC-ULAR! Production values were as high as you would expect, graphics top notch, and some of the actions sequences absoulutely imaginative! No 1000 Agent Smith fights here, or the pointless slogfest that charachterised the 2 later Matrix installments. I especially enjoyed that Kiera Knightlys charachter was used effectively and not a useless hanger-on like Catherine Zeta-Jones in Legend.

Expect the introduction of a long lost father figure whose story will be revolved in Part 3, an ambiguous romantic triangle to emerge with a single kiss, and the loss of a hero whose retrieval you will need to wait for in Return of the Pirate!
